Body Image

Hello everyone, is has come to my attention that I skipped over a few days from our devotional so I am posting these. First, we will read about Body Image. Open your bibles and read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 2:10; and Philippians 3:20-21.

Ladies, this is such an important topic for us. We are consistently told we should look a certain way, be a certain weight, have big hips but not big thighs or be bigger in our tummies, have C cup bras or bigger. We look at ourselves in the mirror and all we see are our flaws… why? Why do we put ourselves in this box and say we are ugly? Darling, our heavenly Father in His image! The world is the lie. The world tells us that we need to look a certain way, dress a certain way, act a certain way. “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body.” (ESV).

When we believe the lies that we are not enough, we are letting the enemy win. We are giving into his lies and allowing him power over us. His main goal is to destroy us. Are you going to let conquer your mind? We are fearfully and wonderfully made!! We are created in His image! Not anyone else’s- His. Believe that you are exactly who God made you to be. Now, if you want to feel healthier, workout more, eat better, sister go for it. But do not do these things in the belief that you have to change your image. When we worry about our image, not only are we giving Satan power, it affects us mentally, which in turn makes it more difficult to lose weight. We are not meant to worry about such things.

Let’s discuss what we just read. I have some questions that I want you to think about, write them down, and if you’d like to comment below we can discuss them together!

  1. How might you be tempted to idolize your body image?
  2. In what ways can our bodily flaws lead us to long for redemption?
  3. How can we use our bodies as vessels of worship?
  4. What hope do we have for our bodies?

Thank Jesus for how He created you. If you feel unhealthy, then that is a good reason to make some changes, but if you are worried about how you look, if people tease you for your image, then that is a great time to show them Jesus. Be kind, show love and grace, and ask Jesus to forgive them. I am done giving into the lies from Satan. I was created by the God who made the mountains, the birds of the air, the roaring ocean, the flowers that bloom. I will not allow the enemy to have anymore power over me. We are the daughters of the King of Kings! We are heiresses to the kingdom in heaven. It is time to stop giving Satan power- for we are made for such a time as this.

I hope you enjoy this study and decide to come back. In our next study we will go over Ministry and how we make it an idol. I hope you enjoy the beautiful sunset that was made by our loving Father and y’all have a wonderful night.
