Hello weekend! I pray y’all are ready for the weekend- whatever it may bring. Let’s open our Bibles and read Psalm 10.

“Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully, doing justice for the fatherless and the oppressed so that mere humans from the earth may terrify them no more.” Psalm 10:17-18 (CSB).

He Sees—A Reflection on Psalm 10

There are moments in life when we feel unseen, unheard, and overwhelmed by the injustices of the world. We witness pain, suffering, and loss, and we wonder—where is God in all of this? Psalm 10 echoes these thoughts, speaking to the sorrow of a heart crying out for justice. It paints a raw and honest picture of the wicked prospering while the afflicted cry for help. Yet, amidst this turmoil, one truth stands firm: God sees.

He is Watching, He is Listening

Psalm 10 does not shy away from the hard questions. It begins with desperation—“Why, Lord, do You stand far off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?” But as the psalm unfolds, a different reality emerges. God is not absent. He is not indifferent. He sees the suffering of His people, and He hears their cries. There is profound comfort in knowing that our hardships do not escape His notice. Lord, You are faithful to me. Lord, You are the comforter, comfort me. These words remind us that God’s faithfulness is unwavering, His presence undeniable.

Faithfulness in Grief

When my mom passed over two years ago, it was the darkest time of my life. I would wake up and just stare at the ceiling—I wasn’t sleeping. If I didn’t have Jesus in the midst of this dark time, I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten through it. My heart was literally broken into pieces. I cried to Him, I screamed at Him, I poured out all the ugly emotions coursing through my body. But He was faithful. I didn’t try to understand “the why,” because I knew that His ways are perfect—even if we do not see it. And through the grief, through the pain, through the nights of endless tears, He remained near. He lifted me when I could barely stand. He listened when my words ran dry. He saw every shattered piece of my heart and, in His time, He began to heal what felt impossible to mend.

Justice and Mercy in His Hands

The psalmist acknowledges the oppression of the weak, the arrogance of the wicked, and the seeming delay in justice. Yet, by the end of Psalm 10, there is a declaration of confidence—God will act. He defends the fatherless, strengthens the brokenhearted, and brings justice in His time. It is easy to grow weary when we do not see immediate resolution, but God’s justice is never hurried, nor is it forgotten. He has been faithful in the past, and we can be sure that He will be faithful always.

A Call to Trust

Psalm 10 shifts our perspective from despair to hope. Though evil may seem to prevail, God reigns above it all. He sees every injustice, every tear shed in quiet, every heart weighed down by burdens. And because He sees, He moves. He lifts up the broken, He hears the prayers of the afflicted, and He remains the refuge for those who seek Him. If today you find yourself asking, “God, do You see?”—know that the answer is yes. He sees, He knows, and He will never forsake you. Rest in His faithfulness, take comfort in His presence, and trust that His justice will prevail.

He sees. He cares. He is faithful. Always.

Let’s discuss what we just read. I have some questions that I want you to think about, write them down, and if you’d like to comment below, we can discuss them together!

  1. Reflect on some instances in your life where God might have felt far away. Hoes does this psalm bring clarity to these situations? Do you trust that the Lord will not forsake you?
  2. Reread verse 17. In what ways does this verse give you hope and comfort in the character of God?
  3. Think about what it means to “plead the character” of God in prayer. As you read this psalm, spend some time in prayer praising God for His good character and the attention He gives to those in distress. Plead His character.

“I will thank the Lord with all my heart; I will declare all your wonderous works.” Psalm 9:1 (CSB).

Well, ladies, we are finishing the second week of our devotional together! As we wrap this week up, I want you to answer a few more questions. Make sure you’re comfortable, get your coffee, your blanket, and let’s reflect on this week.

  1. Paraphrase the psalms from this week.
  2. What did you observe from this week’s text about God and His character?
  3. What do these psalms teach about the condition of mankind and yourself?
  4. How do these psalms point to the gospel?
  5. How should you respond to these psalms? What is the personal application?
  6. What specific steps can you take this week to apply these passages?

I hope you enjoy this study and decide to come back. Monday, we’ll learn about Psalm 11- We Will Trust. I hope you enjoy the beautiful sunset that was made by our loving Father and y’all have a wonderful night.
