Happy weekend! Hopefully it’s been a relaxing one so far. Grab your bibles and let’s read Joshua 2:1-21; 6:17-25; Matthew 1:5; Hebrews 11:31; and James 2:25.
Rahab is introduced as her sin- a prostitute. But she’s also introduced as the woman who helped Joshua’s men. Because of Rahab’s faith in the God of Israel she helped them. She went against her own king and faithful to the Lord. Gods steadfast love would be poured out on Rahab and her entire family and God blessed her. She is known throughout scripture as having remarkable faith in God and in the genealogy of Jesus. I’m sure there’s many people who are surprised when they hear that a prostitute is part of Jesus’ family tree, but that’s one of the many wonderful things about God- he uses the unlikeliest people in the most beautiful story ever told- His love for us through Jesus sacrifice. God took a woman who was in the lowest position you could find yourself in and she used her as apart of Jesus’ family tree. Rahab’s story is a picture of the extravagant grace of our Savior. She was despised by everyone in her culture but because she placed her faith in God her life was transformed. She is defined by our Savior, not by her sin. You see how God makes beautiful things out of the messes we create? Isn’t He incredible?! God uses us, even when we’re flawed. We are not defined by our sins, instead we are defined by grace and redemption that’s in God.
- What did we learn about God and His character in the life of Rahab?
2. What character qualities, positive or negative, do we see in Rahab’s life?
3. What can I learn from Rahab’s story and apply it to my own life?
We can learn so much by this beautiful story of grace. Rahab’s testimony is of redemption and grace beyond measure. God shows that He is merciful, loving, and faithful.
I hope you enjoy this study and decide to come back. Tomorrow, we’ll learn about Deborah and how God moved in her life. I hope you enjoy the beautiful sunset that was made by our loving Father and y’all have a wonderful night.
