Hello everyone! I hope you have had a great week and continue to grow in God’s grace. Today we are learning about the Woman with the Issue of Blood. Open your Bibles and let’s read Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; & Luke 8:43-48.

Now Jesus was on His way to heal a young girl when a great crowd gathered around Jesus that included this woman. This woman knew that He was her only hope to be healed. She had been sick for twelve years and spent all her money on doctors to heal her, but none of them could find what was wrong. Her illness had left her feeling unclean and an outcast. This woman heard of Jesus and she placed all her hope into being healed by Him.

Everyone was pressed up against Jesus. This woman pushed her way through and thought “if only I can just touch the hem of His garment” and she was right. When she touched Him she was instantly healed. Jesus stopped and asked who touched Him. His disciples were probably curious why He would ask that with a crowd around Him. But Jesus knew. He felt the power leave Hm. The woman was aware that Jesus knew that she was healed. When she came forward, she proclaimed that He had healed her, with just the touch of His garment, she had been made clean.

When she came forward, she came in fear and trembling and fell down before Him. Jesus said to her “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” Jesus called her “daughter”. This woman who had been unclean for years had been healed. Her uncleanness could not defile Him, His holiness made her clean and new.

Let’s discuss what we just read. I have some questions that I want you to think about, write them down, and if you’d like to comment below we can discuss them together!

  1. What did we learn about God and His character in the life of the Woman with the Issue of Blood?
  2. What character qualities, positive or negative, do we see in the Woman with the Issue of Blood ’s life?
  3. What can I learn from the Woman with the Issue of Blood’s story and apply it to my own life?

Jesus does the same in our lives. He makes us clean and new. In the moment that this woman was healed and made clean, she was still amazed by His overwhelming grace and mercy. Jesus’ power to heal her transformed everything, and the tenderness of His voice was something that she never forgot. Jesus’ grace towards us is overwhelming! He says the same thing to us that He said to this woman, He calls us “daughter”. He is calling us His. We are His daughters and there is NOTHING that can chance that. No shame that we hold onto, no sin is too great- nothing can separate us His love, grace, and mercy.

I hope you enjoy this study and decide to come back. Tomorrow we’ll start with Martha and Mary and see how God moved in their lives. I hope you enjoy the beautiful sunset that was made by our loving Father and y’all have a wonderful night.
